Mi Unlock is Xiaomi's official bootloader unlocking tool for Windows, giving you complete control over your Android device's core system settings. If you want to modify your device's recovery, gain root permissions, or flash a custom ROM, unlocking the bootloader is the essential first step—and this application makes the process straightforward and secure.

Before you begin, prepare your Xiaomi, POCO, or Redmi device by enabling two critical settings in Developer Options: OEM Unlock and USB Debugging. You'll also need to ensure your Xiaomi account is linked to the device and a SIM card is inserted. These prerequisites protect your device and verify ownership during the unlock process.

The unlocking workflow is simple once you're ready. Extract the Mi Unlock ZIP file on your PC and launch the miflash_unlock.exe executable. Sign in with your Xiaomi account credentials, then power off your device completely. Press and hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously to enter Fastboot mode, then connect your device to your PC via USB. If your device isn't recognized, use the settings gear icon to check and update your USB connection drivers—this ensures seamless communication between your phone and computer. Once everything is verified, you can initiate the unlock request.

Important to understand: after requesting an unlock, you must wait 168 hours (7 days) before the bootloader can actually be unlocked. This mandatory waiting period is a security measure designed to prevent unauthorized access to your device. After the seven days have passed, reconnect your device, and you'll be able to complete the unlock process.

Be aware that unlocking the bootloader erases all user data on your device as a security precaution. This data deletion prevents anyone from accessing your personal information if your phone is ever lost or stolen. Back up everything you need before proceeding.
